War on ISIS distracts the Obama Administration from Iran

The article I read deals with the growing news of the terrorist group of ISIS, and President Obama's and his administration's plan to deal with him. Although many people have different opinions on Obama, almost everyone in the nation agrees with him when he says they must be destroyed. ISIS has committed terrible acts against people that violates the rights that we are given as members of the human race. The war against terrorism was enacted by former President George W. Bush, and continues to drain America of time, money, energy, and most importantly our nation's soldiers.

However, if America decides to not stress the growing threat of ISIS as suggested by Israeli officials, and focus on Iran working towards a nuclear bomb, then ISIS will continue to gain power until America and the world realize that they are indeed a force to be reckoned with. In theory, we could do both, but this would put the Pentagon's budget over what Obama wants, and we would not be able to monitor countries in Asia such as China and North Korea. In this very controversial topic, many people are skeptical at how our country will respond to the growing problems around the world. In any case, our mission is to keep the citizens of the world safe and create nations that will be safe for democracy. Hopefully our government will find a way to enact this mission.

We can relate this article to two things that we have read in our class lately. One being The Warrior's Heart, and the other is the article about Benjamin Franklin. The Warrior's Heart  relates to this topic because the entire book was about using your gifts and abilities to serve and help people around, which is essentially what America is trying to do for the rest of the world. The article about Ben Franklin relates because it shows the humble beginnings of America and the person who initiated what would become the great nation it is today. This article shows that some countries need help to initiate their own humble beginnings which I believe is what America is trying to do.

  1. Laith, I enjoyed the content of your work. I found it interesting how you portrayed both how we need to put down ISIS and the problems that come with that. However, your writing felt constrained to Ms. Brusky's requirements for the blog.

  2. Laith,
I found the Current event you chose to write about very relevant and the interesting perspective you had on it. I agree the ISIS has to be put down but acknowledge the struggle the US government has making this decision. Also good connection to Warriors Heart and Benjamin Franklin.

  3. Laith,
I was pleased to find you understand the need to watch the whole world, not just one country. Though the ISIS force is strong, there are still many bad people around the world that we must keep our eyes on. I agree with you opinion. However, I felt as if your connection to the class was a little awkward. It may have helped if you integrated the connection in the second paragraph, instead of writing a whole third paragraph.
